Troubleshooting
Fixes for the problems people run into most, and how to send a useful bug report.
The popup says it can't audit this page
Browsers don't let extensions read their own internal pages (chrome://, about:), the extension store pages, or some PDF viewers. Open a normal web page and try again.
The scan looks stuck or out of date
- Press the refresh icon in the footer bar, or choose Re-scan page from the quick actions.
- If the page changed after it loaded (a single-page app, for instance), re-scan once it finishes loading.
- Reload the page and open the popup again. Extensions only see a page they were opened on.
INP says "Not measured"
INP needs real clicks, taps or key presses on the page, and none were seen. Interact with the page, then press Refresh readings on the Speed tab.
My speed score differs from PageSpeed Insights
They measure different things. Scoped SEO measures in your browser, on your connection, in your current window, and does not simulate mobile. PageSpeed Insights runs a lab test and shows field data. Use the button in the Speed footer to open it.
My score changed between visits
The page may have changed (a deploy, a CMS update, a plugin), and Scoped SEO's checks are refined over time, so scores from different versions aren't always comparable. Saved audits keep the result as it was recorded and are never rescored.
AI Search Readiness shows "Unable to verify" or "Not evaluated"
Scoped SEO couldn't read the page's robots.txt (a timeout, a block or a server error), or didn't have enough data to score. It never treats missing data as a pass. Re-scan, and check that /robots.txt opens in your browser.
Check Status didn't check some links
Sites you haven't allowed read Not Verified, and only 250 unique destinations are checked per run. Hosts that answer 429 are skipped for the rest of the run. Allow the site when your browser asks, or press Remove site access if you want to revoke it.
I can't locate an element
The label explains why. Common reasons: the element is hidden, it changed after the scan, it's inside an iframe or shadow root, or you're viewing a saved snapshot. Re-scan and try again.
My saved audits disappeared
Saved audits live in your browser's storage for the current owner (guest or signed-in account). They're gone if you cleared site data, switched browser profile, or signed in to a different account. Audits saved as a guest don't appear after you sign in. Sign out to see them again.
I hit the daily export limit
Free allows 2 report exports a day, and the count resets at midnight UTC. Pro is unlimited. Screenshots and the audit itself aren't limited.
Pro isn't showing after I paid
- Sign in to the extension with the same email you used at checkout.
- Open Settings & Account, then Subscription, and press Refresh.
- If you paid with a different email, paste the license key from your confirmation email into the license box.
- Still stuck? Email support@scopedseo.com with your Paddle order reference.
Report a bug
Use the feedback page. The most useful reports include the URL you were auditing, the extension version (shown at the bottom of the sidebar, currently 2.15.0), your browser, what you expected and what happened instead.
