ScopedSEOBot
ScopedSEOBot is the user agent our free SEO tools use when a visitor asks us to check a web page.
What it does
When someone enters a web address into a URL tool, such as the tech stack checker or the robots.txt tester, our server requests that page once, reads the response, and sends it to the visitor's browser for analysis. It requests only the page the visitor asked for, or that site's robots.txt or sitemap.
How it identifies itself
Requests carry this user agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; ScopedSEOBot/1.0; +https://scopedseo.com/bot/)
Behavior
- It never crawls a site. Each request is triggered by a person using a tool, and each visitor is limited to a small number of checks per hour.
- It does not store the pages it fetches or the results.
- It only connects to public web servers on the standard ports.
Blocking it
Add a rule for ScopedSEOBot to your robots.txt, or block the user agent at your firewall. The tools will then report that the page could not be checked.
